Bio

One of the most successful coaches in the GLIAC in recent history, Jeff Pierce returns for his seventh season on the Northwood coaching staff.  The 2018 season will see Pierce work with the tight ends for the third year at Northwood.

Pierce joins Northwood after serving as the head coach at Ferris State for 17 seasons.  He was easily the all-time winningest coach in Bulldog history, finishing his career with 102 victories.  Pierce finished his time in Big Rapids with 42 more victories than any other coach at FSU.  He guided the Bulldogs to three GLIAC Championships, two NCAA Playoff bids and an appearance in the national semifinals.  Pierce was also named the MIFC Coach of the Year in 1995.

Prior to becoming head coach for the Bulldogs, Pierce was Ferris State’s defensive coordinator for seven years.  His 1992 defense led Division II in points allowed per game while his 1994 unit was tops in the MIFC.

A 1979 graduate of FSU, Pierce earned his degree in trade-technical teacher education.  He then earned his master’s degree in athletic administration from Central Michigan University in 1985.

Pierce and his wife Suzie have two sons: Jason and Justin.
