Men's Basketball Earns 80-53 Win Over Tiffin

The Northwood University men's basketball team earned an 80-53 win over Tiffin Thursday night (January 3).

Northwood is now 3-8 overall, 2-5 in the GLIAC. Tiffin falls to 5-7 overall, 2-5 in the GLIAC.

Northwood came out strong early on, scoring the first 11 points of the game. The Timberwolves 47-31 at the break matched their biggest lead for the half. NU's 3-point shooting was the key, finishing 7-11 in the first half.

Northwood maintained their lead throughout the second half, not letting the Dragons get any closer than 16 points.

For the game, Northwood shot a season-high 57.7 percent (30-52) from the floor.  NU also had their best game of the season from 3-point range, going 12-20 (60.0 percent). Tiffin shot 36.8 percent from the floor (21-57) and 20.0 percent from beyond the arc (3-15). 

The Timberwolves had three players finish in double figures.  Andrew VanDierenDonck (Wyandotte, Mich./Roosevelt) led the way for Northwood, finishing with a season-high 21 points.  He matched his career-high by knocking down five 3-point field goals.  Booker Stoudmire (Ypsilanti, Mich./Belleville) added 16 points, while Wes Wilcox (Roselle, Ill./Harper) had 14 points and eight rebounds.

Northwood will take on Ohio Dominican Saturday afternoon (January 5).  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
