Men's Basketball Falls At Lake Erie 72-48

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Northwood University men's basketball dropped a 72-48 contest at Lake Erie Sunday afternoon (January 4).

Northwood falls to 7-5 overall, 3-3 in the GLIAC. Lake Erie improves to 5-5 overall, 2-4 in the GLIAC.

A late run at the end of the first half proved to be a big part to the win for the Storm. Northwood led 23-22 with less than two minutes remaining in the first half when Lake Erie finished strong. They scored the final eight points of the half to go up 30-23 at the break. Neither team shot well in the half – NU finished at 23.7 percent (9-38) while Lake Erie shot 31.4 percent (11-35).

The Timberwolves were never able to get anything going in the second half. NU cut the lead down to three early on, but that is as close as Northwood would get. Lake Erie led by as many as 28 on their way to the win.

For the game, Northwood shot just 25.7 percent from the floor (18-70) while Lake Erie finished at 39.3 percent (24-61). The Storm also dominated the glass, out-rebounding Northwood 56-36. That helped Lake Erie finish with a 17-8 edge in second chance points.

Dylan Langkabel (Morristown, Ind.) led Northwood with 12 points. Khalid King (Columbus, Ohio/North Carolina A&T) added 10 off the bench.

Northwood will host Tiffin Thursday night (January 8). Game time is set for 8 p.m.
