Men's Basketball Downs Tiffin 75-50

MIDLAND, MICH – The Northwood University men's basketball team picked up a 75-50 win over Tiffin Thursday night (January 8).

The Timberwolves improved to 8-5 overall, 4-3 in the GLIAC. Tiffin falls to 5-9 overall, 1-6 in the GLIAC.

Tiffin got off to a strong start against Northwood, as the Dragons led 18-13 with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half. The Timberwolves got things going at that point, going on a 19-4 run to go up 32-22. NU eventually took a 35-26 lead at the break. The Timberwolves shot 41.9 percent from the floor (13-31) compared to the Dragons at 37.5 percent (12-32). Northwood earned the lead thanks to the 3-point line, as the Timberwolves made seven triples (7-15) to zero for Tiffin (0-3).

The Timberwolves put the game away early in the second half, scoring 13 of the first 15 points to extend the lead to 20.  Tiffin got no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.

Northwood finished the game at 46.7 percent overall (28-60) compared to Tiffin at 33.9 percent (20-59). NU shot the ball well from beyond the arc, going 11-20 (55.0 percent).

Three Timberwolves finished in double figures, led by Dylan Langkabel (Morristown, Ind.) with 20. Jermaine Myers (Ajax, Ont./Fordham) had 16 points and five steals, going 5-6 from 3-point range. Will Bowles (East Detroit, Mich./South Lake) had his 19th career double-double in the game, finishing with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Maurice Jones (Saginaw, Mich./USC) finished up with 11 assists and four steals.

Northwood will host Ohio Dominican Saturday (January 10). Tip is scheduled for 3 p.m.
