Men's Basketball Falls At Grand Valley State 80-62

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Northwood University men's basketball team dropped an 80-62 contest at Grand Valley State Saturday night (February 14).

Northwood falls to 13-12 overall, 9-10 in the GLIAC. GVSU improves to 11-14 overall, 7-12 in the GLIAC.

The Timberwolves led 8-5 early but that would prove to be the last lead for the night for Northwood. GVSU led by as many as 10 before settling for a 32-25 lead at the break. Northwood shot just 30.0 percent from the floor (9-30) and 9.1 percent from 3-point range (1-11).

The Lakers took control of the game early in the second half, scoring 12 of the first 15 points to open up a 44-28 lead. GVSU led by as many as 20 and did not allow Northwood to get any closer than 12 in the final 16:00 of the game.

Northwood finished the game shooting 35.4 percent from the floor (23-65). The Timberwolves struggled from 3-point range, making just 3-23 from beyond the arc.  GVSU finished up at 45.3 percent from the floor (24-53) and went 28-34 from the foul line (82.4 percent).

Dylan Langkabel (Morristown, Ind.) led Northwood with 16 points. He reached the 1,000 point mark for his career in the game, now standing with exactly 1,000 points. Langkabel is the 31st member of the 1,000 point club at Northwood. Khalid King (Columbus, Ohio/North Carolina A&T) scored 14 for the Timberwolves.

Northwood will host Michigan Tech Thursday night (February 19). Game time is set for 8 p.m.
