Men's Basketball Drops Tough 52-47 Overtime Game To Saginaw Valley

FIRST HALF

• The opening 10 minutes of the game were close, as the Cardinals led 19-14 at the 9:45 mark.
• MTU's lead was 30-23 with 6:26 remaining when Saginaw Valley took control of the game.
• Saginaw Valley out-scored Northwood 17-2 over the final six minutes of the half to take a 47-25 lead at halftime.
• Northwood was 8-21 from the floor in the half (8-21) while going just 4-8 from the foul line (50.0 percent).
• SVSU shot 43.5 percent (10-23) overall but did make 4-5 from the foul line (80.0 percent).

SECOND HALF

• Saginaw Valley was the better team early in the second half, pushing their lead to as many as eight points.
• With SVSU leading 43-35, Northwood chipped away at the lead. The Timberwolves scored the final eight points of the game over the final 6:20 to send the game to overtime tied 43-43.
• Saginaw Valley shot it better than Northwood in the half – SVSU shot 6-16 overall (37.5 percent) compared to Northwood at 27.6 percent (8-29).

OVERTIME

• Both offenses struggles continued in overtime.
• SVSU scored the first four points in the extra session, which included a banked-in 3-pointer to go up 47-43.
• NU got the lead down to two on two separate occasions but were unable to tie the score.
• Saginaw Valley went 2-4 from the floor overall (50.0 percent) and 4-6 from the foul line (66.7 percent) in overtime.
• Northwood went just 2-10 in the extra session (20.0 percent) while missing all three of their 3-point attempts
