Men's Basketball Earns Dramatic 61-60 Win Over Eckerd

RECAP: Northwood men's basketball scores the final six points in the last minute of the game to earn dramatic 61-60 win over Eckerd Saturday afternoon (December 21).

FIRST HALF

• Northwood got off to a good start, as the Timberwolves scored the first six and 14 of the first 17 points of the game.
• NU led 27-15 with less than four minutes to go when the Tritons finished strong, scoring the final seven points of the half to make the score 27-22 at the break.
• Northwood shot 43.5 percent from the floor in the half (10-23) while going 4-11 from 3-point range (36.4 percent).
• Eckerd struggled offensively in the half, finishing at 26.7 percent overall (8-30) and 11.1 percent from beyond the arc (11.1 percent).

SECOND HALF

• The Timberwolves got the advantage back to 12 early in the second half, but the Tritons responded once again.
• NU led 40-30 when Eckerd came up with a 21 of the next 29 points to go up 51-48.
• Eckerd eventually led 60-55 with under a minute to go when  the Timberwolves made the final push to earn the win.
• Northwood got a 3-pointer from Jack Ammerman to cut the lead to two, which was followed by a steal and a 3-point play from Trey McBride to put NU back on top with 12 seconds remaining.
• The Timberwolves then held on defense, giving Northwood the win.
• After struggling in the first half, Eckerd was much better from the floor in the second half, shooting 50.0 percent overall (14-28) and 44.4 percent from 3-point range (4-9).
• The Timberwolves ended the second half at 40.6 percent from the floor (13-32) overall and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc (6-16).
