Men's Soccer Plays #4 Saginaw Valley To 0-0 Draw

The Northwood University men's soccer team opened conference play with a 0-0 draw at No. 4 ranked Saginaw Valley Friday afternoon (September 12).

The Timberwolves held the recently ranked No. 4 team in the country in Saginaw Valley State scoreless for the opening 45 min. NU finished the first period with three shots, to go along with six fouls. Keeper Johannes Sterobo (Odense, Denmark / Tornbjerg) had match with a four saves on nine shots faced. The Cardinals held the advantage in corner kicks (3-0) in the opening period.

NU continued to control the offense of the Cardinals in the second half, holding Saginaw Valley to just five shots. The Timberwolves recorded two shots and a single corner kick in the second period. While the rain continued to fall, the match headed into double overtime. Throughout the extra time, NU registered three shots to Saginaw Valley State's two.

For the match, the Cardinals finished with 16 shots. Adam Thomas (High Wycombe, England / John Hampden) registered two shots with one of which being on goal. James DeCosemo (Stokesley, England) tallied two shots on goal, while Keaton Levock (Clinton Twp., Mich. / Niagara) also recorded two shots in the contest.
