Men's Soccer Gears Up For The First Season In The GMAC As Team Releases Schedule

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University men's soccer program announced its schedule for the upcoming 2022 season Thursday afternoon (August 4).

Northwood is set to enter its first year within the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). A conference where last year's conference tournament champion (Lake Erie) fell to the Timberwolves in their only match-up on September 10, 2021 (2-0) while the Timberwolves were still a member of the GLIAC.

The program will play teams they've yet to encounter in their 20-year existence. Teams like Trevecca Nazarene and Kentucky Wesleyan will make their first men's soccer appearances on Dean Field this season.

In the Timberwolves' 20 years of existence, the navy and white hold a 75-58-13 mark against current GMAC schools.

Head Coach Stevie Shard enters his fifth year at the helm and currently holds a 26-30-3 overall mark over the last four years.

"After a disappointing season last year," said Coach Shard, "we are in the new league, and we believe we can make a statement. We are very excited about this class we are bringing in, and it might surprise some people."

The Timberwolves come off the 2021 fall season, where the team saw many hills and valleys, finishing 4-13-1. But, a majority of NU's leading point scorers from last season will be returning, including the trio of Seamus Quinn (Derry, Ireland), Chase Clark (Grand Blanc, Mich.), and Andrew Simon (Flint, Mich.).
