Second Half Outburst Leads Men's Soccer To A 4-1 Win Over Malone

RECAP: The Northwood men's soccer team visited the Malone Pioneers on Saturday (October 7). NU would explode late in the second half as they would defeat the Pioneers 4-1.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

  • Through the first half, the teams were scoreless. The Pioneers had the edge in both shots (6-2) and in corner opportunities (4-3).
  • The Timberwolves took the lead coming out of the break. Amedeo Crovasce broke free down the middle, giving Oliver Jarvis an outlet near the left post. Jarvis would score his team and conference-leading eighth goal of the season in the 53'.
  • Malone scored the equalizer with a free kick from 25 yards out in the 63'.
  • Seamus Quinn put the Timberwolves back on top in the 74'. Jarvis' long pass from midfield to the left corner of the 18-yard box. Crovasce would earn his second assist of the match crossing inside to a streaking Quinn who would score.
  • Northwood's offense continued to pressure with a one-goal advantage. Crovasce would get a goal of his own, off a beautiful cross from the fright corner by Patrick Hamilton. His leaping header added to the NU lead in the 82'.
  • The offense would stop at three, and Northwood added its second goal in the final eight minutes with just 22 seconds left on the game clock. A free-kick awarded Quinn the opportunity to get an assist just to the right of the 18-yard box. His cross into the middle gave Jarvis just enough time to get his right foot on it to direct it in for his brace.
  • Jarvis is currently tied for sixth nationally with nine goals this season.
  • Northwood would leave victorious following a 4-1 outburst in Canton.
