Men's Soccer Sets 2024 Season Schedule
MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University men's soccer team announced their 2024 schedule Monday (July 22).
2024 features a 17-game regular season with their home and season opener versus Northern Mich. in Midland on November 5. Their three-game out-of-conference schedule finishes with neutral site contests against Davenport (September 12) and Saginaw Valley St. (Sept. 14) at the Paradiso Soccer Field on the campus of Tiffin University.
The full schedule features eight home, seven away, and two neutral site matches. Head Coach Stevie Shard looks for more consistency in 2024, "I think the most important thing for us is to be consistent, with the schedule and the squad, we have enough depth to handle bumps in the road."
The 14-game conference schedule opens at home against Kentucky Wesleyan on September 19. It includes two 2023 NCAA Tournament qualifiers in Tiffin (October 3) and Lake Erie (Oct. 24). The rest of the Timberwolves home matches include bouts with Findlay (Oct. 5), Malone (Oct. 17), Thomas More (Oct. 19), Walsh (November 2), and Ashland (Nov. 6).
In 2024, we will see some new faces around the lineup, but some key captains Lathan Baker, Luke Kalvitz, and Neil Langan return. "Having both captains back is a big boost for the team. Neil was injured for a big portion of the season last year. Lathan's return is a massive boost for us. He was injured in preseason for six months but he's recovered and looks great. We have some new additions which will help as we had a big graduation class last year," said Shard.
The conference's season-ending tournament is set to begin November 9 with quarterfinals followed by semis and finals the week following.
Northwood finished 2023, 6-8-4 overall and 5-6-3 in the G-MAC, and begins on Sept. 5 with a matchup with Northern Mich. at 1 p.m. on Dean Field in Midland.
