
Men's & Women's Track Teams Travel To Mike Lints Alumni Open at GVSU
The Northwood University indoor track and field teams competed at the Mike Lints Alumni Open hosted by Grand Valley State University Friday night (January 17).
The women placed 10th overall out of 18 teams.
Select Northwood throwers also traveled to Central Michigan University for the Jack Skoog Open in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
Senior Danielle Miller (Clinton Twp, Mich. / Fraser) earned a NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 3,000 and shattered a school record (previously set by Kylen Cieslak in 2009 - 10:06.66) with a time of 9:52.42. Madison Pines (Troy, Mich. / Troy) came close to her own record in the mile, placing fourth and clocking a 5:02.77. Also competing for NU were seniors Kristal Harvey(Garden City, Mich. / Garden City) clocking an 8.85 in the 60M and 29.75 in the 200M;Marsadie Cinato (Warren, Mich. / Woods Tower) who finished with a 27.76 – 200M – and 1:01.01 in the 400M; Brittany Robichaud (Monroe, Mich. / Monroe) running a 5:25.71 mile; and Chelsea Young (Remus, Mich. / Chippewa Hills) who competed in both the 60M hurdles – 11.34 – and the long jump.
On the men's side, Marcus Rogers (Howell, Mich. / Pinckney) set a new school record running 8:41.53 in the 3K. The 3,000 record was previously held by Sam Watson who ran 8:41.70 in 2009. Jacob Hurrell (Cadillac, Mich. / Cadillac) had a solid performance placing 11th in the 400M with a time of 49.95. He also competed in the 200M and clocked 22.65 to finish 18th. Korvon Harris (Detroit, Mich. / Northwestern) earned an 11th place finish in the 60M with a time of 7.08. Other Timberwolves competing in the 60M were Mike Ankoviak (West Bloomfield, Mich. / Walled Lake Northern) clocking 7.23, Jalen Hodgson (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Parchment) with 7.29 and Josh Gardner (Howell, Mich. / Howell) at 7.39.
Northwood will compete in The Cardinal Open at Saginaw Valley State on January 31.
