Men's Track & Field Moves Up To #18 In USTFCCCA Rankings

USTFCCCA Rankings - Week 2

 

MIDLAND, MICH – The Northwood men's indoor track and field team has moved up one spot to No. 18 in the second week of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings released Tuesday (January 29). The men have 43.56 computed points in this week's poll.

 

The Timberwolves saw one new and one improved NCAA provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships. The improved mark came from Rami Gharsalli, who posted a season best time of 8.03 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles at the Jet's Pizza Invitational. He now sits at No. 7 on the national qualifying list for 9.33 computer points.

 

The new NCAA provisional mark came from Mason Phillips, who picked up his fourth provisional qualifying mark of the season in the long jump. His season best jump of 7.03 meters (23 feet-11.5 inches) has him ranked No. 11 for 2.73 points. In addition to the long jump, he owns the top time in Division II at 200 meters, ranked second in the 60 meter dash, and No. 10 at 400 meters.

 

Other Northwood men that own provisional marks are Brian Patrick in the 5000 meters (No. 17) and Andrew Davis in the 200 meters (No. 26).

 

The men's and wpomen's indoor track and field teams will travel to Hillsdale College for the Wide Track Classic Friday-Saturday (February 1-2).
