Men's Track & Field Ranked #10 In Latest USTFCCCA National Rankings

MIDLAND, MICH – The fourth week of the regular-season U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings were released Tuesday (February 12) afternoon and have the Northwood men's track and field team ranked No. 10 in NCAA Division II. This is the highest national ranking for the program in school history.

The Timberwolves have 61.67 computer points in this week's poll to move up 13 spots from last week's ranking. The men's team have been nationally ranked in the Top 25 in every poll released this year.

A strong weekend at the GVSU Big Meet saw two improvements to previous NCAA provisional qualifying marks. Rami Gharsalli was clocked at 7.99 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles to move up to fourth nationally. The distance medley relay team of Chase Clark, Mason Phillips, Netunji Paige and Brian Patrick now sit seventh on the qualifying list after running 9:53.12 to smash their own school record.

Phillips is the team's pacesetter with 40.51 computer points between his individual four events. He is ranked second in the 60 meters (19.64 computer points), third at 200 meters (17.64), No. 16 in the 400 meters (0.86) and No. 13 in the long jump (2.37). Gharsalli adds 15.42 computer points with his ranking in the 60 hurdles.

Other men that own provisional marks are Brian Patrick and Dylan Rocha in the 5000 meters (No. 22 and 46), and Andrew Davis in the 200 meters (No. 38).

The indoor track and field teams compete in their last regular-season meet Friday (February 15) at the SVSU Tune-Up before the GLIAC Indoor Championships.
