Rami Gharsalli Named GLIAC Men's Track Athlete Of The Week

MIDLAND, MICH. – Senior Rami Gharsalli was named the GLIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week Tuesday (February 19) by the league office. This is his first weekly honor of the season and the third of his career at Northwood.

Gharsalli won the 60 meter hurdles at the SVSU Tune-Up meet Friday (February 15), turning in an improved NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 7.96 seconds for the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas March 8-9. His currently owns the sixth-fastest time in the country this season heading into the conference championships.

Also at the SVSU Tune-Up, he placed third in the 60 meter dash finals (7.03 seconds) in his season debut in the event.

Gharsalli joins Mason Phillips in earning GLIAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors this year for the Timberwolves, pushing their total to four. Northwood has claimed half of the men's track athlete of the week honors through eight weeks of indoor action.

The indoor track and field teams will compete at the GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday-Sunday (February 23-24), hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.
