PACIFIC COAST INTERCOLLEGIATE (APRIL 18)

MEET: Pacific Coast

LOCATION: Jack Rose Stadium – Long Beach, Calif.

INSIDE THE MEET – MEN'S T&F

  • Senior Rami Gharsalli finished fourth in the 110 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 14.04 seconds for a season best and an improved NCAA provisional qualifying time in the event.
  • Gharsalli's time is currently the No. 2 time in NCAA Division II performance list for the 110 hurdles.
  • Sophomore Mason Phillips placed third in the 100 meters with a time of 10.65 seconds.
  • The 4x100 meter relay of freshman Andrew Davis, sophomore Christopher Bent, Gharsalli and Phillips got the baton around the track in 40.94 seconds for a third place finish.

MT. SAC RELAYS (APRIL 19-20)

LOCATION: Murdock Stadium – Torrance, Calif.

INSIDE THE MEET – MEN'S T&F

  • Gharsalli was the seventh-fastest qualifier in the 110 meter hurdle collegiate prelims at 14.26 seconds. He placed third in the finals with a time of 14.09 seconds, just shy of his season best of 14.04 seconds run at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate.
  • Phillips ran a personal best for an improved NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 100 meters. He ran 10.42 seconds to finish as fifth fastest qualifier out of prelims. He kept his place in finals with a time of 10.51 seconds.
  • Phillips's time of 10.42 seconds keeps him ranked No. 12 on the NCAA Division II performance list at the time of this recap.
  • In the invite section of the 100 meter dash, Bent ran 10.83 seconds to match his season best.
  • Sophomore Austin Hamlet clocked a season best in the 100 meters (11.20 seconds).

INSIDE THE MEET – MEN'S T&F

  • Freshman Travis Schepers broke the 50-foot mark in the shot put for the first time in his collegiate career. His personal best of 15.48 meters (50 feet-9.5 inches) makes him the third best shot putter in Northwood school history. His third throw of the day led him to a fifth place finish.
  • Schepers also threw the discus 44.76 meters (146 feet-10 inches) on his third attempt for his second personal best of the day. Already the sixth best discus thrower in school history, he improved upon his previous mark of 44.63 meters (146 feet-5 inches).
  • Sophomore Hunter Berecz earned an outdoor personal best in the shot put with a heave of 15.39 meters (50 feet-6 inches). He now sits as the fourth best shot putter on NU's all-time list.
  • Sophomore Nathan Powers also earned an outdoor personal best in the shot put on his way to a ninth place finish in finals. His throw of 15.08 meters (49 feet-5.75 inches) moves him up to sixth all-time in school history.
  • Freshman Dylan Powers posted another personal best in the hammer throw. His mark of 44.14meters (144 feet-9 inches) is nearly a 3 meter improvement upon his personal best of 41.22 meters (135 feet-3 inches) set at the Walsh Invitational last weekend.
  • In the javelin, senior Ben Quella claimed a fourth place finish in the javelin on a toss going 46.06 meters (151 feet-1 inch)

INSIDE THE MEET – WOMEN'S T&F

  • The discus throw for the Timberwolves featured sophomore Jessica Marvin claiming the win in . Her winning toss came on her fifth throw of the day going 42.66 meters (139 feet-11 inches). Her mark is over a meter improvement from her previous personal best of 41.38 meters (135 feet-9 inches) moves her into third all-time in program history.
  • Marvin also earned an outdoor personal best in the shot put with a mark of 11.82 meters (38 feet-9.5 inches) to improve upon her positioning as the fifth-best women's shot putter in school history.
  • Senior Riley Johnson earned a pair of top eight finishes. In the javelin, she placed third on a throw going 34.18 meters (112 feet-1 inch) to tie her season best mark. She also placed seventh in discus finals on a throw of 37.59 meters (123 feet-4 inches).
  • Sophomore Jessica Kursinsky earned a sixth place finish in shot put on a throw landing 12.51 meters (41 feet-0.5 inches). 

AL OWENS CLASSIC (APRIL 20)

MEET: Al Owens Classic

LOCATION: GVSU Lacrosse/Track & Field Stadium – Allendale, Mich.

INSIDE THE MEET – MEN'S T&F

  • Two Timberwolves earned season bests in the 5000 meter run. Freshman Zane Aldrich placed eighth in 15:23.40 to move into eighth all-time in NU history. Senior Caleb Barker ran 15:57.46.
  • In the sprints, freshman JaiVen Holmes-Powell ran 11.42 seconds in the 100 meters to establish his event standard and a collegiate best in the 400 meter hurdles (57.05 seconds). Freshmen Dallas Cleary and Darian Randolph ran a collegiate bests in the 200 meters with times of 23.00 and 23.15 seconds respectively, while freshman Nick Morrison ran a small collegiate best in the 400 meters (53.16).
  • Freshman Ben Haupt crossed the line in 10:14.38 for a sixth place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase.

INSIDE THE MEET – WOMEN'S T&F

  • Freshman Debra Wallace earned a pair of top four finishes in the 200-400 double. She first placed fourth in the 400 meters, finishing the one lapper in 58.04 seconds. Wallace bounced back in the 200 meters to claim a third place finish in a collegiate best time of 24.42 second, moving into second all-time in school history. Her previous outdoor best was 24.70 seconds run at the Gibson Invitational (April 6).
  • Freshman Anneliese Hummel ran the 100 meters in 13.07 seconds for a collegiate best and an improvement upon being the tenth best performer in NU history. Freshman Alexis Kaanta also ran a collegiate best of 13.60 seconds. Also in the 200 meters, freshman Kaehla Manly clocked a time of 27.43 seconds for a collegiate best.
  • Three women ran personal bests in the 1500 meter run – senior Jacqueline Reneaud ran 5:16.19 and freshmen Katherine Wozniak (5:27.60) and Amanda Kalkman (5:40.18). Reneaud also ran a personal best in the 800 meters (2:36.60), along with Kalkman (2:53.65).
  • Freshman Isabel Anderson tied for eighth place in the high jump with a day's best clearance of 1.50 meters (4 feet-11 inches)
