Track & Field Closes Out Regular Season Competition At Davenport And Hillsdale

MEET: Davenport Tune Up

LOCATION: Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex – Davenport University – Caledonia, Mich.

INSIDE THE MEET – MEN'S T&F

  • Two Timberwolves saw wins in their respective events. Freshman Nick Morrison posted a collegiate best in the 200 meters en route to winning the event in 22.41 seconds. Freshman Max Lerchen take top honors in the javelin on a toss of 43.76 meters.
  • Northwood placed three men in the top eight in the 100 meter dash. Sophomore Austin Hamlet placed second (11.25 seconds), freshman JaiVen Holmes-Powell in third (11.54 seconds) and freshman Darien Randolph in eighth (11.58 seconds). Holmes-Powell also placed third in the 400 meter hurdles (58.01 seconds).
  • Sophomore Hunter Berecz earned himself a new collegiate best in the shot put on a heave landing at 15.56 meter to earn third place honors. He now sits third all-time in school history. His previous best in the outdoor shot put came last weekend at the Ashland Alumni Open (15.39 meters/50 feet-6 inches), while his previous collegiate best came back in January at the SVSU Jet's Pizza Invitational (15.51 meters/50 feet-10.75 inches). Berecz also placed fifth in the hammer throw on a mark of 48.17 meters.
  • Freshman Zechariah Stickler earned a collegiate best in the shot put. His toss of 42.12 meters placed him fourth in competition and an improvement upon his ninth-best performance in school history. Stickler also earned a fifth place finish in shot put (14.83 meters).
  • Sophomore Nathan Powers placed sixth in the hammer throw (47.33 meters) and seventh in shot put (14.16 meters).
  • Freshman Travis Schepers threw the shot put 14.46 meters to finish in sixth overall.

INSIDE THE MEET – WOMEN'S T&F

  • Northwood claimed the top two spots in the 100 meter dash. Senior Jetaeia Lewis and freshman Debra Wallace were both clocked at 12.36 seconds; however, Lewis claimed the win when times went to a thousandth of a second (12.354 versus 12.360 for Wallace).
  • Junior Hannah Gearhart threw the hammer 43.84 meters to earn a third place finish.
  • Sophomore Jessica Kursinsky placed fourth in the shot put, throwing a distance of 13.11 meters. She also threw 42.15 meters in the hammer throw to place sixth.
  • Sophomore Jessica Marvin placed second in the discus on a throw of 41.04 meters. She also had a pair of eight place finishes in the hammer throw (41.58 meters) and the shot put (12.11 meters).
  • Senior Riley Johnson placed third in javelin (33.38 meters) and fifth in discus (39.26 meters).
  • In the high jump, freshman Isabel Anderson had a clearance of 1.52 meters to finish fifth. 

MEET: Hillsdale College GINA Relays

LOCATION: Ken Herrick Track – Hillsdale College – Hillsdale, Mich.

INSIDE THE MEET – MEN'S T&F

  • Freshman Parker Hayes's time of 4:02.91 in the 1500 meter run open section earned him a fourth place finish in the event.
  • In the 800 meter run open section, freshman Josiah Morse crossed the line in 1:54.76 for a fourth place finish.
  • Senior Dylan Rocha continued to run strong times in the 3000 meter steeplechase. He claimed an eighth place finish in the championship section with a time of 9:30.34.

INSIDE THE MEET – WOMEN'S T&F

  • Senior Jacqueline Reneaud ran a collegiate best in the 5000 meters with a time of 19:30.86. Her previous out personal best was 19:59.25 ran at last year's GINA relays, while her indoor best this past season was 19:36.32 ran at the GVSU Big Meet in February.
  • Also in the 5000 meters, freshman Katherine Wozniak ran an outdoor personal best (20:31.55).
