Mason Phillips Named Finalist for the USTCCCA Division II Indoor National Track Athlete of the Year

2020 USTCCCA Division II National Indoor Award Finalists

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – Mason Phillips, a junior on the Northwood University men's track and field team, has been named a finalist for the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Indoor National Track Athlete of the Year.

The finalists were announced Friday afternoon (March 20)

Phillips joins fellow finalists Trevor Bassitt of Ashland University and Christian Noble of Lee University.

Phillips ended the indoor season with the top-ranked time in the 200 meter dash (20.76) and the second-fastest time in the 60 (6.65) in Division II. His time in the 200 ranks second in the history of Division II men's track & field. A seven-time All-American, Phillips earned All-Region in four different events this indoor season: the 60, the 200, the 4X400 relay and the Distance Medley Relay. He is the Northwood record holder in a total of eight events indoors and outdoors.

Each of the athletes and coaches were among the top-3 vote getters in their respective category when the first round of voting by member coaches was conducted from Wednesday afternoon into early Friday morning.

There will be a final vote by member coaches beginning Monday morning and those winners will be named National Athletes & Coaches of the Year for the 2020 indoor season.
