Track & Field Sends Three Athletes To NCAA Outdoor Championships

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University track & field teams will send three athletes to compete in a total of five events at the 2021 NCAA Division II Outoor Track & Field Championships.

The field was announced by the NCAA Tuesday (May 18).

Jessica Kursinsky (shot put), Mason Phillips (100 meters/200 meters) and Zechariah Stickler (shot put, discus) will all take part in the championships.

Kursinsky will be making her first appearance at the NCAA Championships. She is ranked 12th in the shot put heading into the event. She earned the win in the shot at the GLIAC Championships with her toss od 15.05 meters.

Phillips, a 12-time All-American at Northwood, is ranked fourth in the 100 meter dash (10.32) and second in the 200 (20.68).  He finished second in both the 60 and the 200 during the indoor season

Stickler is also competing in his first NCAA Championships. He enters the event ranked ninth in the shot put (18.27 meters) and 12th in the discus (54.11 meters). Stickler's shot put mark broke a school record that had stood since 1985.

The event will take place March 27-29 at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Michigan.
