Track & Field Sends Jones, Haviland, and Tesch To NCAA Outdoor Championships

Full List Of 2023 Division II Outdoor NCAA Championship Qualifiers

MIDLAND, MICH. – The NCAA has announced the participants for the 2023 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships. A total of 754 participants, 377 men and 377 women, will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event. Northwood's men's track & field is set to have three representatives in the events. Dillan Haviland is set to run the 1500m, while Josh Jones runs the 800m, and Sebastian Tesch competes in the hammer throw will compete for the Timberwolves.

Meet the Athletes

The 2023 G-MAC 1500m Champion, Haviland, headlines the Timberwolves. His stellar outdoor season saw him break the 1500m program and G-MAC record at 3:44.52 during the G-MAC Outdoor Championships. He heads into NCAA's as the No. 9 seed with his ninth-best time in DII this season. The 2023 Indoor mile First Team All-American looks to get his second All-America status this calendar year.

Northwood's 800m specialist Jones qualified for his first NCAA Outdoor Championships. He qualified as the No. 6 seed with his mark of 1:48.45 during the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 13). His mark is a program record and was the G-MAC record following that race.

Breakthrough performer, Tesch, will also make his first appearance at an NCAA championship. Tesch jumped onto the scene this season placing second in the hammer throw at the G-MAC Championships (May 3) with the second-best toss in program history at 61.47m. He comes in as the No. 10 seed.

The 2023 championships are set for Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 27 at the Thunderbowl on the campus of Colorado St.-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo.
