Track & Field Earns Two All-America Honors At 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships

MEET: 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships

LOCATION: Colorado St.-Pueblo – Pueblo, Colo.

RECAP: Northwood track & field had two members earn Second Team All-America honors with their performances at the Outdoor Championships in Colorado, May 25-27.

INSIDE THE MEET

THURSDAY RESULTS (MAY 25)

  • Sebastian Tesch earned the 10th overall seed in Championships and that held serve. Northwood's best hammer thrower this year earned a 10th place finish following his 61.45m toss on his third throw of the hammer throw competition. Tesch was just two centimeters off his personal record as he finishes his outdoor season with a second-team All-America showing.
  • Dillan Haviland earned a bid to the 1500m finals Friday after placing second in the second heat and eighth overall with a 3:51.52 finish. The top eight racers in the 1500m all finished within a 1.27 span. His qualification also earns him at least a second-team All-America spot as he looks for a first-team spot in two days.

FRIDAY RESULTS (MAY 26)

  • Josh Jones took to the track for the 800m prelims, Friday. Jones would finish 17th at 1:55.32. Jones finished his fantastic season as the school record holder in the 800m at 1:48.45.

SATURDAY RESULTS (MAY 27)

  • Haviland would earn his second All-America honor this year (First Team Indoor Mile) placing 12th in the 1500m finals at 4:04.55. Haviland's year ends breaking the 1500m with his best mark of 3:44.52.

NORTHWOOD NOTES

  • Men's track & field had 25 athletes earn program top-10 marks among all events this outdoor season, including Haviland and Jones school record marks.
