Bio

Marcus Myers is in his fifh season as the throws coach for the Northwood University Track and Field programs.

In 2019 Outdoor season, Myers coached Rami Gharsalli to a GLIAC Champion in the Javelin Throw. Gharsalli won the Javelin with a toss of 56.06 meters (183 feet-9 inches). Ben Quella earned GLIAC Runner-Up the same year with a toss of 52.38 meter (171 feet-8 inches), which helped earn a 3rd place Team finish behind nationally ranked Grand Valley State University and Ashland University.

In 2020 Indoor season, Myers lead Northwood Throwers to 5, NCAA Division 2 Provisional qualifying marks. Jessica Kursinsky finished 3rd at the GLIAC Indoor Championships in the shot put with a throw of 13.71 meters (44 feet-9 inches). Hunter Berecz was awarded GLIAC Runner-Up in the shot put with a throw of 16.70 meters (54 feet-7 inches).

2021 Indoor Season, Northwood Throwers had 5 total NCAA Provisional qualifying marks. Jessica Kursinsky (Shot), Hunter Berecz (Shot), Travis Schepers (Shot), Zechariah Stickler (Shot), and Nathan Powers (Weight Throw).

Continuing into the 2021 Outdoor Season, Northwood Throwers recorded 7 NCAA Provisional marks, Jessica Kursinsky (Shot), Hunter Berecz (Shot), Travis Schepers (Shot), Zechariah Stickler, (Shot & Discus), Nathan Powers (Hammer), and David Kotliarker (Hammer). Northwood Men’s Event squad rankings in the Men’s Shot Put was ranked 2nd Nationally in NCAA DII with an average of 17.05 meters.

Jessica Kursinsky became GLIAC Outdoor Shot Put Champion and Northwood University Record holder with a throw of 15.05 (49 feet-3inches), which then qualified her for NCAA DII Track and Field Championships at Grand Valley State University. Zechariah Stickler was a GLIAC Outdoor Shot Put Runner-Up and Northwood University School Record holder with a throw of 18.27 (59 feet-11inches). His mark in the shot put and discus, 54.11 (177 feet-6 inches) qualified him for the NCAA DII Track and Field Championships at Grand Valley University where he competed in both the Men’s Discus and Shot put. Stickler earned his first All-American honors with a 6th place finish in the Men’s Shot Put.

At Walsh, Myers made five NCAA Division II Track & Field Championship appearances and is a four-time First Team All-American in the hammer, weight and discus throws. During the 2018 campaign, he was the NCAA Division II National Champion in the hammer throw, the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional Athlete of the Year, the GMAC Athlete of the Year, and the GMAC Champion in the discus and hammer throws. He is the school record holder in the hammer (67.12 meters/220 feet-2 inches), weight (20.35 meters/66 feet-9 inches) and discus (53.16 meters/174 feet-5 inches).

Myers competed at 2019 USATF National Championships in the hammer with an Automatic Qualifying mark of 69.65 meters (228 feet-5 inches).

Myers qualified for the 2020 US Olympic Trials with an Automatic Qualifying mark of 72.05 meters (236 feet-3inches).

Myers graduated from Walsh University with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing.
