Jeremy Wilk Steps Down As Head Track & Field/ Cross Country Coach - Named Track & Field Assistant Coach For Distance At Miami (Fla.)

MIDLAND, MICH. – Jeremy Wilk resigned as the head of the Northwood track & field/ cross country programs Wednesday morning (September 5).

Wilk has accepted an assistant coaching job at the University of Miami (Fla.) as the Men's and Women's Track & Field Assistant Coach / Distance.

"I'm so grateful for the opportunity that I had at Northwood. I had the pleasure of working with some truly wonderful people who made me feel welcome and wanted," said Wilk. "It's a testament to the student-athletes and the staff I've been fortunate to work with. I've been blessed with incredible colleagues who I felt truly wanted the best for me. Most importantly, I've been able to work with selfless, driven, and caring student-athletes who have gone far beyond what could reasonably be asked for the program and myself."

During his time with the Timberwolves, men's cross country has gone from 27th in the Midwest region in year one to 25th in the country following the 2022 season. The 2022 squad was the first team to qualify for the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships. In addition to the team's first-ever team qualification, the men added the third and fourth individual NCAA qualifiers via Brian Patrick (2018) and Zane Aldrich (2021).

In track & field, his distance/middle-distance crews have broken school records 30 times. These include over 43 spots on the NCAA descending order list and three All-Americans; including Stephen Barker (2022) and Josiah Morse (2020) in the indoor 800m and Dillan Haviland (2023) in the indoor mile.

As head of women's cross country, Northwood had their highest conference finish in program history, taking sixth at the 2022 Great Midwest Cross Country Championships.

There have been 12 United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic individuals during his time here and 27 new members of Northwood's top-25 list in cross country between the two teams.

"Jeremy has done a tremendous job leading the track and cross country programs," said Northwood Athletic Director, Jeff Curtis. "His accomplishments and dedication here will aid him as he moves forward at Miami. We wish him nothing but the best."
