Softball Drops Pair At Rebel Spring Games

The Northwood University softball team dropped a pair of games in Florida Thursday afternoon (March 14).  NU dropped a 6-3 contest to Southwest Minnesota State before falling to Minnesota State Mankato 10-2.

The Timberwolves led against SW Minn. St. 3-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Mustangs rallied back.  They scored three in the fifth and two more in the sixth to earn the win.  Stacey Klonowski (Canton, Mich./Plymouth) had two hits and a double to lead the Northwood offense.

Northwood again jumped out to an early lead against Mankato State, but the Mavericks took control in the fourth inning. MSU scored two runs in both the fourth and fifth and three runs in the sixth and seventh innings to earn the win, their ninth in 10 games at the Rebel Spring games. Sam Zaborowski (Taylor, Mich/Cabrini) had two run-scoring doubles in the game, while Klonowski added two hits and a run scored.

Northwood will take on St. Cloud State and Augustana Friday (March 15).  Game times are set for 9 and 11 a.m., respectively.
