Sam Zaborowski and Jessica Tostrud Named All-Region by NFCA

NFCA All-Region Teams

MIDLAND, MICH. – A pair of student-athletes from the Northwood University softball team have earned All-Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Senior first baseman Sam Zaborowski (Taylor, Mich./Cabrini) was named Second Team All-Region at First Base, while sophomore Jessica Tostrud (Kenosha, Wisc./Mary D. Bradford) was named Second Team in the outfield.

The teams are voted on by the coaches around the Great Lakes Region.

Zaborowski concluded her banner career with a strong senior season. She batted .383 while sharing the team lead with 33 runs batted in. Zaborowski also led the team with a .476 on-base percentage.

For her career, Zaborowski finished ranked among the all-time leaders in Northwood history in hits (191 - fifth), doubles (38 - fourth), home runs (16 - third), RBIs (130 - second), total bases (279 - fifth) and batting average (.347 - sixth).

Tostrud turned in her second straight strong season at Northwood. She finished the season with a .390 batting average while driving in 22 runs. Tostrud also had a .429 on-base percentage and a .542 slugging percentage.  So far in her career, Tostrud is tied for fourth in school history with a .364 career batting average.
