Softball Loses Pair In Florida
OVERVIEW – AUGUSTANA/ST. CLOUD STATE
SCORES: Augustana Vikings 9, Northwood Timberwolves 7/St. Cloud State Huskies 4, Northwood 0

LOCATION: Clermont, Fla.
RECAP: Softball dropped a pair of games to start their spring break trip to Florida Saturday (March 9), falling 9-7 to Augustana before losing 4-0 to St. Cloud State.
AUGUSTANA HIGHLIGHTS
- Northwood got off to a good start in the game, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning. After getting on the board on a wild pitch, NU made it 2-0 on an RBI groundout by Sydni Culps.
- Tara Gross followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0 after one.
- The Vikings responded right away, getting a bases-loaded triple in the top of the second to level the score.
- Northwood took the lead back in the bottom of the second inning on a solo home run by Grace Dutoi.
- After Augustana tied the score in the top of the third, Northwood took the lead back in the bottom of the fourth. Maddie Coulter started things with an RBI double to make it 5-4.
- Dutoi followed with an RBI single to score Coulter, pushing the lead to 6-4.
- The Vikings got the biggest hit of the game in the top of the fifth – a three-run homer turned a two run deficit into a 7-6 lead.
- Northwood did not go quietly, however, as Abby Joseph hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth that sent the game to the final inning tied 7-7.
- AU made the final push, however, getting a pair in the top of the seventh and holding the Timberwolves off the board to earn the win.

ST. CLOUD STATE HIGHLIGHTS
- After Northwood's first game of the day featured 16 runs, the St. Cloud State game was a low-scoring contest. The game was scoreless into the fifth inning.
- The Huskies got an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth to get on the board.
- SCSU then plated three runs in the sixth to close out the win.
- Northwood's offense managed just three singles while not drawing a walk in the game.
