RECAP: Softball dropped pair of games late at Wayne State Sunday (March 24), falling 4-1 and 2-1 in eight innings

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood took the early lead in the opener on an RBI single to score Maddie Coulter.
  • WSU leveled the game in the second on a triple.
  • The score remained 1-1 until the bottom of the sixth, when the Warriors took advantage of Northwood mistakes. The Timberwolves committed three errors in the inning, allowing WSU to plate three runs. That made the score 4-1.
  • Northwood was held off the board in the seventh, giving the Warriors the win.

  • The pitchers were the story for the majority of the game, as the score remained 1-0 until the sixth. WSU used a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game.
  • Wayne State earned the win in the eighth with a two-out walk-off single.
