RECAP: Softball splits pair at Parkside, winning 8-0 in game one before falling in game two 2-1.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood took control of the game in the opening inning, starting with an RBI double by Abby Joseph.
  • Grace Dutoi followed with a double of her own to plate a pair to make the score 3-0.
  • Godlewski made it three-run scoring doubles in the opening inning, giving the Timberwolves a 4-0 edge after one.
  • Northwood kept the doubles coming in the second inning, starting once again with Joseph. Her two-bagger made it 5-0.
  • Torriya Gray-Baker made it 7-0 later in the second with yet another double, which plated a pair.
  • The score remained 7-0 until the fifth with Brooke Bauer came home on a passed ball that put Northwood up by eight runs.
  • Taylor Wright finished off the five-inning shutout in the bottom of the fifth. She allowed just one hit while striking out eight.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

  • Parkside plated one in the second and one in the third to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Northwood's offense did not get on the board until the seventh inning thanks to a Lauren Castellon RBI double to score April Bennett.
  • NU had the tying run on second with two outs but were unable to level the score.
  • After hitting six doubles in the opening game and plating eight runs, the Northwood offense struggled in game two: the Timberwolves had five total hits, one of which went for extra bases (Castellon's double).
