RECAP: Northwood softball picks up a pair of in-region wins Saturday (February 22), defeating Bellarmine 2-1 before defeating No. 10 Indianapolis 3-2.

BELLARMINE HIGHLIGHTS

• Northwood had chances to break the game open early but only were able to push one across in the first two innings. That run came on a Haley Frank RBI single that scored Julia Gross.
• The score remained 1-0 until the sixth inning when the Timberwolves doubled their advantage. Sydni Culps' RBI single scored Gross to make it 2-0.
• Northwood was one out away from a shutout when an NU error allowed the Knights to on the board in the seventh.
• Shayna Frank then recorded the final out to give Northwood the win.

• Northwood opened the scoring in the top of the third on a Gross run-scoring triple that plated Alexis Koehler to give Northwood the early lead.
• The Greyhounds responded with one in third and one in the fifth to take a 2-1 edge to the final two innings.
• NU got another triple in the sixth to key the rally that earned the Timberwolves the win. This time is was Mikala Gronback, whose three-bagger to right center scored Gross and leveled the game 2-2
• Pinch runner Abigail Maresh then came home on a wild pitch, which put Northwood back on top.
• Shayna Frank came in to get the final four outs of the game to give the Timberwolves the win.
