RECAP: Northwood softball finishes weekend in Indiana by going 1-1, defeating West Liberty 10-2 before falling to Truman 3-1 Sunday afternoon (February 23).

WEST LIBERTY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood got on the board in the bottom of the first inning on a Sydni Culps RBI double.
  • The Timberwolves extended their advantage in the second on a Maddie Coulter RBI groundout to make the score 2-0.
  • The third inning is when Northwood broke the contest open, starting with a Mikala Gronback RBI single.
  • Tara Gross made it 4-0 with an RBI single of her own, which was followed by a Torriya Gray-Baker sacrifice fly.
  • An RBI double by Jordan Look pushed the lead to 6-0.
  • Coulter finished the inning with an RBI groundout that made the score 7-0.
  • After the Hilltoppers got on the board in the top of the fourth with a single run, Haley Frank delivered with the biggest hit of the game. Her three-run triple made the score 10-1.
  • West Liberty plated one run in the fifth but were unable to get any closer, giving the Timberwolves the win.

  • Northwood got off to a good start in the game, going up 1-0 three batters into the game thanks to a Grace Dutoi RBI single.
  • Truman responded with two unearned runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead.
  • The Bulldogs then made it 3-1 in the fourth with a single run.
  • The Timberwolves had plenty of chances on offense the remainder of the game, having a runner in scoring position with less than two outs in four of the seven innings. But that first inning run proved to be the only one the Timberwolves would score.
