GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

  • TNU jumped out to the early 2-0 lead in the first. The Trojans' second batter roped a double to left center. TNU later scored on a single back up the middle, 1-0 TNU.
  • A first and third double steal would make 2-0 for the Trojans.
  • Trvecca took advantage of a Northwood miscue in the second, scoring once off a double to right center and another off an RBI groundout, 4-0 TNU.
  • The Timberwolves tried to stay in it, but the Trevecca offense took advantage of any opportunity. In the fifth with bases loaded, a foul out down the right field line allowed TNU to extend their lead to 5-0.
  • A five-run sixth for the Trojans blew the game open. TNU managed just two hits in the sixth but earned four walks in the inning as they capitalized on another defensive miscue, 10-0 TNU.
  • Brittany Steimel notched her career-high, eighth bomb of the season with a two-run homer to center in the sixth to put NU on the board.
  • NU's offense didn't muster anything else, falling in a mercy rule 10-2 in six innings.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

  • Teams were scoreless through two and a half innings. In the bottom of the third, Ashley Ziel continues to heat up, smashing her third home run of the season to put Northwood up 1-0.
  • Moving to the fifth in a tight ball game, a lead-off double for the Trojans would be erased after Elexia Fuentes threw her out trying to steal third, 1-0 NU.
  • The next batter doubled herself to give the Trojans life again. A walk put runners on first and second when a high fly to center would be lost in the sun with two outs. The ball would fall in as both runners scored, 2-1 TNU.
  • Emily Cox gave the Timberwolves a chance in the seventh. A single and a double opened the inning to put runners on second and third with no outs. Cox managed to get a weak fly ball to center so Ashlyn Lundquist could throw out the runner trying to score at the plate.
  • Going into the seventh, the Timberwolves hadn't scored a run off anything but a home run the entire day. Northwood strung together singles from Jillian Krawczak, Gabby Schloop, and Gale and eventually would walk it off with a single up the middle from Steimel, 3-2 NU.
  • Cox earned her 10th win of the year in the process. Cox was named to the 2024 Tucci/ NFCA Pitcher of the Year Watchlist on Thursday (March 28).
