The Timberwolves were shutout in game one's 1-0 loss before the offense came to life in game two for a 12-4 mercy rule win behind Gabby Schloop's 6 RBI. The victory marked the 200th win in Gregg Sauve's tenure as Head Coach (2017-2024).

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second with a single to center that proved to be the only run either pitcher would let up during the matchup, 1-0 CU.
  • Emily Cox would pitch another complete game allowing just four base runners the entire game, but the Timberwolf offense wouldn't manage any offense losing 1-0.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood's offense waited till game two to get moving as the Timberwolves combined for five runs in the first to take a 5-0 lead. First, Gianna Fantin's single to center plated Ashley Ziel for the first run of the game.
  • Gage Lambert followed with a single to score Brittany Steimel before Karlie Moore shot a base hit to right center to score Fantin and Delanie Gale, 4-0.
  • Gabby Schloop's bases-loaded walk gave NU the 5-0 lead moving into the second. Northwood totaled six hits in the first to open game two.
  • Cedarville countered with three of their own in the third. The Yellow Jackets would score on a wild pitch before a double down the right field line gave them two more, 5-3.
  • Schloop's first double of the game put Nu out in front 6-3 in NU's half of the third, scoring Jenna O'Berry from first.
  • Gale followed with a single through the right side to move it to a 7-3 lead.
  • A Cedarville solo shot made it 7-4 which would be the closest the Yellow Jackets would come the rest of the game.
  • Northwood offense continued to tack on in the fourth. Fantin led off with a single before she advanced to third on a passed ball. Moore's second RBI single put Nu up 8-4, plating Fantin from third.
  • The Timberwolves' fourth was capped by a Gabby Schloop three-run shot to center to give her five RBIs for the contest. That homer was Schloop's second of the season.
  • With just one run away from the mercy rule, NU looked to Schloop again in the sixth to end it with runners on second and third. She did just that with her third extra-base hit of the game, a towering double to the base of the wall in left-center to score Moore, 12-4 NU.
  • The 12-4 win marked the 200th career victory for Head Coach Gregg Sauve. Over Sauve's eight seasons at the helm, he holds a 200-148-2 record with a .574 win percentage. His .574 win percentage is a program record.
