RECAP: Northwood softball welcomed conference newcomer Thomas More to Midland for a doubleheader (April 6). Game one saw another gem of a game from senior Emily Cox in a 1-0 shutout win over the Saints. The Timberwolves would fall 2-1 in game two.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwood saw plenty of opportunities to score early leaving six on base through the first three innings.
  • In the fourth, Ashlyn Lundquist led off with a double to left center, giving NU life. Karlie Moore followed with a single of her own before a sac fly from Jillian Krawczak scored what would be the game's only run, 1-0 NU.
  • Emily Cox pitched her 10th complete game of the year, including her third shutout of the year en route to NU's 1-0 victory.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Saints tacked on an early run in the first, leading off the game with a walk and a single. A sac bunt scored the runner from third to make it 1-0 TMU
  • Thomas More added another in the fourth with a bases-loaded walk to double their lead to 2-0.
  • The Timberwolves managed just one run during game two, which came in the fifth with an Ashley Ziel single to right, 2-1 TMU.
  • The NU offense wouldn't manage any more rallies, eventually falling to the Saints 2-1.
