Softball Earns Under Consideration Nod In Initial NCAA Regional Rankings
MIDLAND, MICH. - The Northwood softball team (26-15, 13-7 G-MAC) was listed as one of the 10 teams under consideration for the 2024 NCAA DII Softball Tournament in the NCAA's first set of Midwest Regional Rankings released Wednesday (April 17).
These first rankings are published in alphabetical order to show teams that are under consideration and most likely to be in the official rankings on April 24.
Other teams under consideration include conference members Trevecca Nazarene, Hillsdale, and Ohio Dominican as well as in-state foes Grand Valley St. and Saginaw Valley St. Other schools include Indianapolis, Lewis, Drury, and Purdue Northwest.
Softball is back in action Saturday (April 20) for a doubleheader versus Ursuline beginning at 1 p.m.
64 teams will qualify for this year's NCAA Tournament, with the top eight teams from the Midwest Region earning a berth. Postseason action of the NCAA tournament will begin May 9-11 with the first round on 16 different campuses across the United States.
Four teams will participate at each of the 16 regional sites in a double-elimination tournament. The 16 teams advancing from regional competition will participate in a two-team, best-of-three super regional at eight sites.
The NCAA selection show is set for Monday, May 6 at 10 AM ET on NCAA.com
