Moving On - Softball Takes Down No. 1 Trevecca To Advance To G-MAC Semifinals

RECAP: Northwood softball knocked off the No. 1 seeded Trevecca Nazarene Trojans in the championship quarterfinal round of the conference tournament. The Timberwolves, behind Emily Cox's pitching and Delanie Gale's bat took the Trojans to extras to win 3-2 in eight innings.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Northwood went out to the early 2-0 lead to open the game after a two-run triple down the left field line got past a diving left fielder. Ashlyn Lundquist and Ashley Ziel scored on the triple from first and second.
- The Trojans scratched one across with a first and third play that cut the NU lead in half, 2-1 NU.
- Teams went scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Trevecca tied it at two with a two-out single to center, 2-2.
- Emily Cox overcame three Northwood miscues to force the game to extras, going the distance through seven and allowing just one earned run.
- A leadoff hit-by-pitch in the eighth gave NU a baserunner before Madison Jordan's sac bunt moved pinch-runner Saylar Cuthrell to second. Gale left her mark, coming through with a single to put the Timberwolves on top 3-2 in the eighth.
- Cox went out and finished the final three outs to give Northwood the 3-2 win and her 17th win of the year.
