RECAP: Northwood Softball moves on to Friday with a win against the Findlay Oilers Thursday (May 1). The Timberwolves took down the Oilers 4-2 in a gritty fashion, moving on in the consolation bracket.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS 

  • The Timberwolves got their offense going in the second inning when Gage Lambert led off with a double. Abby Robinson followed with a double to right-center, driving in Lambert to give Northwood a 1-0 lead.
  • The Oilers responded in the third, stringing together a single and a two-run homer to take a 2-1 advantage.
  • In the fifth, Gabby Schloop sparked a rally by drawing a leadoff walk. After advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt and moving to third on a groundout, she crossed the plate on an infield single by Ashley Ziel, tying the game at 2-2.
  • Northwood reclaimed the lead in the sixth inning. Gianna Fantin singled up the middle and later came around to score on a grounder to shortstop, putting the Timberwolves back on top, 3-2. 
  • In the seventh, Delanie Gale reached on an infield single with one out. After stealing second, she came home on an Oiler error, extending the lead to 4-2.
  • Northwood's defense held strong, shutting down the Oilers' offense after the third inning.
