Blake Vier Tabs First Career G-MAC Athlete Of The Week Honor For Track & Field

G-MAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Blake Vier earned Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week honors from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) this week, Monday (February 12). This is Vier's first Athlete of the Week honor of his career and third for track & field this indoor season.

Vier broke the 8-second barrier for the 60m hurdles during GVSU's Big Meet on Friday (February 9). He ended up taking fourth overall with the No. 19 mark in DII this season at 7.97. The rising sophomore qualified for the finals with an NCAA provisional mark of 8.13 during the prelims. Vier is only the third athlete in NU history to run a sub-8, 60m hurdle race.

Track & field is back competing at SVSU's Tune-Up this Friday (February 16). This is the team's last meet before they head to Ashland for the conference championships February 24-25.
