Two School Records Are Broken As Track & Field Compete At Tiffin and Bucknell

OVERVIEW 

MEET: TIFFIN TRACK CARNIVAL / BISON OUTDOOR CLASSIC

LOCATION: TIFFIN, OHIO / LEWISBURG, PA.

RECAP: Northwood track & field continued their outdoor season this weekend (April 12-14) with trips to Tiffin for the Tiffin Track Carnival and Bucknell for the Bison Outdoor Classic.

INSIDE THE MEET

TIFFIN TRACK CARNIVAL

FOR THE MEN

  • Sebastian Tesch reset his program record for the hammer throw by over 1.5m. His 65.67m toss on his third attempt won the meet and is fourth in DII this season and No. 1 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).
  • Arthur Powell IV improved his PR in the 100m dash. His 10.75 finish was the best by a Timberwolf as he took 13th. He also took 10th in the 200m at 21.87 which is also a lifetime best.
  • Matheu Morrison took home the crown in the 110m hurdles with a 14.09 finish during the Tiffin Track Carnival Second Chance (March 13). His mark was first in the G-MAC as it cleared the NCAA Provisional mark and is t-16th in DII this season. Morrison also placed second during the 400m hurdles with a PR of 54.43. His 400m hurdles mark is now fifth in NU program history.
  • Blake Vier took second behind Morrison in the 110m hurdles with a 14.18 finish. Vier also set a new PR in the 400m hurdles, taking 10th in 58.66.

FOR THE WOMEN

  • Keiyera Johnson wrote her name in Northwood stone, setting the program record with a 15.44 wind-legal mark during the finals of the 100m hurdles.
  • Jenna Gaul became the fourth woman to run a sub-16-second 100m hurdle race. She finished 17th in 15.95.
  • Kelsey Hansen's 50.26m PR in the women's hammer orange group placed third. Hansen moved up to fourth on NU's top performer list with the toss.
  • Emily Stinson also set a 46.17m PR in the women's hammer orange event, finishing eighth. Stinson also threw shot with a 12.30m PR in that event, moving into sixth on NU's top performer list for the shot.
  • Kaylee Locke took fourth in the 800m with a PR time of 2:24.42.
  • Rachel Sierakowski (18:46.92) and Riley Hacker (18:57.51) took on the 5K Championship event, placing 13th and 14th respectively.
  • Molly Dickinson also ran the 5K for Northwood, taking second overall in 19:08.33.

BISON OUTDOOR CLASSIC

FOR THE MEN

  • Dillan Haviland placed fifth in the 1500m invitational with a 3:47.17 mark. He finished No. 1 amongst DII racers and fifth out of 95 runners. Haviland also ran a 1:51.49 800m race to take
  • Todd Henley finished the men's 10K in 31:26.48. His mark is nearly a minute faster than his previous best as he is now fourth all-time on NU's all-time performers' list for the 10K.
  • Sam Smith and Carson Laney led all Timberwolves in the 5K invitational. Both racers set new PRs during the action as Smith (14:48.84) moved into fifth as Laney (14:52.11) moved

FOR THE WOMEN

  • Sarah Zehr ran a nearly 27-second PR in the 5K invitational to take 15th overall in 17:42.60. Her time is third on NU's all-time top performer list.
  • Katherine Haupt repped the blue and white for the 800m. She improved her PR to 2:18.51.
  • Also in the 800m, Taylor Hopkins jumped into NU's top performer list to ninth with a 2:21.58 PR finish
