Track & Field Has Four Earn All-Region Honors From USTFCCCA

MIDLAND, MICH. – Four athletes from Northwood's track & field program earned All-Region honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released Friday (May 17).

Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.

2024 NCAA Qualifiers Jon Kelm, Matheu Morrison, and Sebastian Tesch, along with Blake Vier were all designated the honor. Kelm competed in the long jump, Morrison and Vier the 110m hurdles, and Tesch the hammer throw.

Kelm earned the selection with a 7.69m leap at the conference championships (May 3), winning the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Outdoor Long Jump title.

Tesch broke the program record for the hammer throw with a 64.13m toss at the Raleigh Relays (March 28) before breaking his mark twice more before a 67.71m launch at the G-MAC Championships (May 1).

Morrison ran a sub-14 110m hurdles race at the Len Paddock Open (April 27), finishing in 13.98. He along with Vier were NU's best athletes in the hurdles. Vier set his personal record at the N.C. State's Raleigh Relays on March 28 where he ran a 14.19.

Kelm, Morrison, and Tesch are set to compete at the 2024 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships later this month. The championships run from Thursday, May 23 to Saturday, May 25 at Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kansas, hosted by Emporia State. The championships will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com
