
Track & Field Programs Compete At Conference Championships - Northwood Women Score Most Points Since 2003
OVERVIEW – 2025 G-MAC OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
LOCATION: Ashland – Ashland, Ohio
RECAP: Northwood's men's and women's track & field programs competed at the Great Midwest Outdoor Championships at Ashland Wednesday through Friday (April 30-May 2). The men placed sixth with 66 points while the women scored 44, placing seventh. This is the most points Northwood's women's program has scored in a conference meet since 2003 (44 points – GLIAC Outdoor Championships). Ashland took home both the men's and women's titles with 194 and 209 points.
INSIDE THE MEET
FOR THE MEN – DAY ONE
- Kyle Roeters came through with big points for the Timberwolves, scoring eight, finishing second in the men's javelin. His 51.04m mark is the fifth-best mark in program history. His finish gives him Second Team All-Conference honors for finishing top two in an event. This is his first All-Conference honors for his career.
FOR THE WOMEN – DAY ONE
- Kelsey Hansen started the scoring for the women, earning a podium finish in the women's hammer throw. She took third with a new PR of 57.17m, taking sole second in program history for the event.
- Also in the throws, Hailey Granata took sixth, adding three points. In her final meet of her career, Granata best toss cleared 32.45m.
- Sarah Zehr added a point scoring in the women's 10K. After 25 laps, the senior finished in 38:08.83 in eighth.
- Northwood's women finished day one with 10 points, scoring in all three of the day one events.
FOR THE MEN – DAY TWO
- Evan Hurley improved his PR in the men's high jump, crossing the 1.9m mark. His best clearance of 1.92m gave Northwood three points as he took sixth, improving his No. 5 mark in program history.
- Will Nemecek took second in the men's shot put, finishing the rain-soaked event with his best mark of 17.38m. He added Second Team All-Conference honors with the finish. This is the second shot put All-Conference honors this year.
- At the end of day two, Northwood men were in sixth with 19 team points.
FOR THE WOMEN – DAY TWO
- Kelsey Hansen continued to add points for the Timberwolves on day two. She placed fourth in the women's shot put with a big 14.25m PR. She is just the second Northwood athlete to break the 14m mark in the shot put. This improves her No. 2 mark in program history.
- Breanna Hyde earned the second podium finish for the women's team. Hyde was the second women's athlete with a big PR; she cleared 5.68m in the long jump, moving into sole second in program history.
- At the end of day two, Northwood women were in sixth with 22 points. The 22 points are the most for the women's team at the conference championship meet since 2019, when they finished with 25.5 at the 2019 GLIAC Outdoor Championships
FOR THE MEN – DAY THREE
- Northwood scored big in men's discus, and Tyler Marrogy came to compete. As a freshman, the thrower took home the men's discus crown with a 51.76m toss. This is the first individual conference title for the Timberwolves. He is now fifth in program history for the event.
- Also in discus, Will Nemecek scored in his second event of the meet. He took seventh with a 46.75m toss.
- Andrew Braman, Arthur Powell IV, Diogo Vaz, and Carson Daniel combined to place on the podium in third, finishing in 40.93.
- Preston Earl capped his final conference meet, scoring three points in the men's 1500m. Earl finished in 3:56.44.
- Matheu Morrison earned Second Team All-Conference honors, taking second in the men's 110m hurdles with a 14.19 finish. His finish earned NU eight more points.
- Michael Cook capped the individual scoring for Northwood in the 400m hurdles. His 53.03 PR earned a second-place finish. His mark is second-best in program history.
- Northwood also took fourth in the 4x400m, taking five more points behind Braman, Vaz, Daniel, and Cook's 3:19.29 mark.
- NU had one gold and four silver medalists during the event.
FOR THE WOMEN – DAY THREE
- Hansen continued her big meet scoring again in women's discus. She took her second bronze of the meet, taking third, with a 45.61m toss during competition.
- Northwood added three points with a sixth place finish in the 4x100m. Keiyera Johnson, Gaul, Vivian Williams, and Hyde combined to finish in 48.98.
- Kaylee Locke (2:14.51) and Ariel Warner (2:14.67) placed sixth and seventh in the women's 800m. This added five more points to the Timberwolves' tally.
- Gaul added five more points for NU, taking fourth in the 400m hurdle finals. The junior finished in 1:04.44.
- Johnson, Warner, Brooklyn Wolcott, and Locke added three, taking sixth in 4:01.25 during the 4x400m.
- Northwood's women scored 44 points during the meet. This is the most points Northwood's women's program has scored in a conference meet since 2003 (44 points – GLIAC Outdoor Championships).
- Northwood's women collected three podium finishes along the way.

- Northwood men's and women's track & field will compete at various last chance meets in hopes of qualifying for the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships. They will compete at Michigan's Len Paddock Invitational Friday (May 9).
