Women's Basketball Falls At Tiffin 78-69

The Northwood University women's basketball team dropped a 78-69 contest at Tiffin Thursday night (January 9).

The Timberwolves fall to 5-6 overall, 3-4 in the GLIAC. Tiffin improves to 4-7 overall, 1-6 in the GLIAC.

Northwood led the majority of the first half, going up by as many as eight in the opening 20 minutes.  NU eventually led 34-31 at the break.  Northwood shot 40.6 from the floor (13-32) while Tiffin finished at 36.4 percent (12-33).

Tiffin's offense was the story of the second half.  The Dragons shot 56.0 percent from the floor (14-25) and 18-21 from the foul line (85.7 percent). After trailing by eight with three minutes to go, Northwood had the ball trailing 70-66 with a minute remaining but were unable to get any closer.

For the game, Northwood finished at 39.0 percent overall (23-59), while Tiffin shot 44.8 percent (26-58) from the floor.  The Dragons were the better team at the foul line, making 24 of 27 attempts (88.9 percent) while NU finished 18 of 29 (62.1 percent).

 Sarah Susan (Grand Rapids, Mich./Byron Center) and Lauren Robak (Clarkston, Mich./Our Lady of the Lakes) led the way for Northwood. Susan finished with 22 points, going 9-16 from the floor while blocking three shots.  Robak had 21 points and three steals.  Freshman Emily Kutch (Freeport, Mich./Lakewood) finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Northwood will travel to Ohio Dominican Saturday (January 11). Game time is set for 1 p.m.
