Women's Basketball Falls To Wisconsin-Parkside 71-52

MIDLAND, MICH. – The Northwood University women's basketball team dropped a 71-52 contest to Wisconsin-Parkside Sunday afternoon (November 30).

The Timberwolves are now 2-2 overall. The Rangers improved to 5-1 with the win.

Northwood got off to a strong start, leading by as many eight points while staying on top for the majority of the opening 12 minutes. But Wisconsin-Parkside went on a 14-0 run to open up a 26-20 lead with 6:36 left in the first. The Rangers eventually took a 32-28 lead to the locker room. NU got off to a strong shooting start but ended the first half at 37.5 percent overall (12-32). UWP ended the opening 20 minutes at 48.1 percent (13-27).

Another big run by Parkside proved to be the key to breaking the game open early in the second half. A 13-0 run took a one point Ranger lead and made it 49-35 with less than 12 minutes remaining. Northwood got no closer than 11 the rest of the way.

For the game, UWP finished at 50.0 percent from the floor (29-58) while Northwood ended at 38.6 percent (22-57). The foul line was a big part of the game as well – the Rangers finished 9-10 from the line while the Timberwolves ended up 5-12.

Kaitlin Susan (Grand Rapids, Mich./Byron Center) led the way for Northwood, finishing with 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. She was the lone player to finish in double figures for the Timberwolves.

Northwood will open GLIAC play at Findlay Thursday night (December 4). Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
