Women's Basketball Earns 72-55 Win Over Lake Superior State

RECAP: Women's Basketball earns its first win of the season with a 72-55 victory over Lake Superior State Saturday (November 9).
GAME STORY
- Northwood was the better team to start the game, putting up 20 of the first 29 points of the contest. That led NU to hold a 22-11 lead after one quarter.
- The Timberwolves pushed their lead to 26-11 early in the second when Lake Superior State started to play better. An 11-2 run for the Lakers made the score 28-21 with 3:33 remaining in the half.
- Northwood got the lead back to double-figures at the end of the half, holding a 36-24 lead at the break.
- LSSU came out very strong to start the third quarter, posting an 11-0 run over the opening 4:45 to make the score 36-35.
- That would be as close as the Lakers would get, however. Northwood immediately posted nine of the next 10 points to get the lead back up to 45-36.
- The lead stayed above seven the rest of the quarter, which ended with NU on top 51-40.
- Northwood started the fourth quarter on a 12-5 push that gave the Timberwolves their biggest lead to that point at 63-45.
- The Timberwolves pushed the lead to as many as 23 (70-47) before finishing off the victory.
