Bio

Autumn (Haggadone) Hunter was named the eighth head coach in the 41-year history of Northwood University women's basketball in the summer of 2021. She has posted a 52-32 record in three seasons leading the program. Her .619 career winning percentage is the best in program history.

In her first season as head coach, Hunter led Northwood to an 18-10 record overall and a 12-8 mark in the GLIAC. The Timberwolves registered an eight-game winning streak in the season, the longest at Northwood in 31 years.

Battling a number of injuries early in the year, Northwood finished the 2022-23 season strong to finish 14-14 overall with an 11-9 conference record. The Timberwolves earned the No. 5 seed in the Great Midwest Conference tournament in their first season in the new league.

The 2023-24 team had one of the best seasons in program history, finishing the year with 20 victories. The Timberwolves' 20 division II wins are a program record, as well as their 16 conference wins. NU also set program-record with 242 3-pointers made and had the longest winning streak in 33 years by taking nine straight games late in the year.

Hunter served as an assistant coach at Northwood for four years. Shortly prior to earning the head coaching position, Hunter had been promoted to Associate Head Coach. She helped lead the Timberwolves to its second NCAA Tournament appearance in school history in the 2020-21 season, when the Timberwolves finished third in the GLIAC. Northwood has made the GLIAC Tournament three times in the last four years. NU went from winning 10 games in a full season in 2019-20 to earning 11 victories in the shortened 2020-21 season. In her four seasons at Northwood, the Timberwolves have won 51 games and reached the GLIAC Tournment three times

Hunter joined the Northwood staff after being an assistant coach at her alma mater, Albion College for two seasons. She was a part of a Briton team that went 18-8 overall and reached the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament semifinals in 2016-17.

A four-year letterwinner and captain as a player for the Britons, Hunter helped the team post 62 victories in her career. She graduated from Albion in 2012 with a degree in Physical Education.

“I would like to thank President MacDonald, Dave Marsh and all of the administration at Northwood for this great opportunity,” said Hunter. “I would also especially like to thank Jeff Curtis for being a great mentor, leader and friend over the years. This program means a lot to me and I am very excited to continue the great success we have experienced under Jeff Curtis.”

Hunter and her wife Chelsea were married in the summer of 2025. They reside in Midland.
