Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Contest To Malone

MIDLAND, MICH. - The Northwood University women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 contest to Malone on Friday afternoon (October 17).

The Timberwolves fall to 1-10-1 on the year, 0-8 in the GLIAC. The Pioneers are now 2-10 overall, 1-8 in the GLIAC.

NU controlled play for a majority of the match, entering halftime scoreless with the Pioneers. Northwood edged Malone in shots (7-5) and corner kicks (3-1) for the opening period. The Pioneers turned on the offense in the second half, recording 13 shots in the final 45'.

For the match, Julie Shields (Berkley, Mich. / Berkley) registered nine saves, while Shannon Brown (Lapeer, Mich. / Lapeer West) and Carly Whitson (Utica, Mich. / Eisenhower) each took three shots. Malone held the advantage in shots (18-14) for the match.

The Timberwolves will travel to Tiffin next Friday (October 24). Match is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
