Women's Soccer Stays At No. 5 In The Second Set Of The NCAA DII Midwest Regional Rankings

MIDLAND, MICH. - The 2023 Great Midwest regular season champions, Northwood women's soccer (14-3-2, 12-1-1 G-MAC), stayed put at No. 5 in the second set of 2023 NCAA DII Midwest regional rankings released Wednesday (November 8).

Northwood was one of four teams from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) in the rankings. Others include No. 1 Ashland (16-0-3), No. 4 Cedarville (15-3-1), and No. 9 Findlay (11-4-4). No. 2 Northern Michigan (13-1-4) and No. 3 Grand Valley St. (10-2-6) round out the top three.

Women's soccer is set to play host for the 2023 G-MAC tournament following their quarterfinal win over Ohio Dominican on Saturday (November 4). The G-MAC tournament resumes Thursday (November 9) with the semis followed by the final on Saturday (November 11) at Dean Field in Midland.

The No. 1 Timberwolves advanced to play No. 4 Findlay on Thursday with the match time beginning at 10:30 a.m. No. 2 Ashland and No. 3 Cedarville will face off following NU's match at 1:30 p.m. at Dean Field. Northwood faced the Oilers just two weeks ago (October 26) in Findlay, Ohio. Northwood won that matchup, 1-0. 

56 teams will qualify for this year's NCAA Tournament, with the top eight teams from the Midwest Region earning a berth. Postseason action of the NCAA tournament will begin on November 16-19 with the first and second rounds on 16 different campuses across the United States.

Teams will compete in three- or four-team sites in the first and second rounds. The two top-seeded teams in each region shall be offered the opportunity to host, provided minimum site selection criteria are met and a bid has been submitted.
