Rafaella Platsiota Earns G-MAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week
MIDLAND, MICH. – Rafaella Platsiota, a junior from the Northwood University women's tennis team, has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week. The conference made the announcement Monday (April 1). This is Platsiota's third career Athlete of the Week honor and the first one for the women's tennis team this season.
Platsiota went 4-0 for the Northwood women's tennis team going 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles. She earned a pair of straight-set victories at the No. 1 singles position. Platsiota also teamed with Savannah Matuszewski for a pair of wins at the No. 1 doubles position. Platsiota has won five in a row in singles and seven in a row in doubles and currently stands with a 24-6 overall record on the year.
Northwood has now won five straight overall and stands at 4-0 in the G-MAC. The Timberwolves will look to stay perfect in conference play on Saturday, April 6, against Hillsdale at home.
