Track & Field Teams Compete At SVSU Tune-Up

OVERVIEW – SVSU TUNE-UP

LOCATION: University Center, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University

RECAP: Northwood throws lead the way as a limited crew from the track and field teams compete at the SVSU Tune-Up Friday night (February 21).

INSIDE THE MEET – MEN

  • Northwood finished 1-2-4 in the shot put, with two of the three marks reaching NCAA provisional qualifying standards. Hunter Berecz placed first at 16.26 meters, while Zechariah Stickler was second at 16.23 meters. Travis Schepers finished fourth with a toss of 15.18 meters.
  • Berecz also placed third in the weight throw at 17.28 meters, followed by David Kotliarker in fourth at 16.38 meters.
  • Brian Patrick clocked an 8:43.99 for a season-best time in the 3,000, good for a fourth place finish.
  • Andrew Wendler clocked a personal-best time of 4:33.83 to place seventh in the mile.

INSIDE THE MEET – WOMEN

  • Jessica Kursinsky picked up the win in the shot put with an NCAA provisional mark with a toss of 14.12 meters.
  • Taky Ezell earned a personal-best in the weight throw by a meter, placing fourth overall with a toss of 17.53 meters.
  • Jessica Marvin was fifth in the weight throw at 16.79 meters.

  • The track and field teams will compete at the GLIAC Indoor Championships February 29-March 1.
