Track & Field Opens Indoor Season At GVSU Mike Lints Alumni Meet

OVERVIEW – SVSU HOLIDAY OPEN

MEET: GVSU Mike Lints Alumni Meet

LOCATION: Allendale, Mich. – Grand Valley State University

RECAP: Northwood track & field teams opened their 2021 indoor season by competing at the Mike Lints Alumni Meet Saturday (January 23).

INSIDE THE MEET – MEN

  • Northwood's dynamic duo in the sprints of Mason Phillips and Xzavia Price started their indoor seasons the right way, each earning NCAA Provisional times in the 60. Phillips clocked a 6.75 to finish first followed by Price in second at 6.82.
  • Josiah Morse and Stephen Barker each narrowly missed on an NCAA time in the 800 – Morse placed fourth with a time of 1:53.56, while Barker was fifth at 1:53.97. The provisional time in the event is 1:53.00.
  • NU's 4X400 relay team of Phillips, Morse, Barker and Jeronn Body finished second with a time of 3:20.4.
  • Zecharia Stickler picked up a third place finish in the shot put with a toss of 15.94 meters.

INSIDE THE MEET – WOMEN

  • Jessica Kursinsky led the way for the Timberwolves thanks to her strong performance in the shot put. Her toss of 13.91 meters was good for third place overall (behind two Division I athletes) and was good for an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark. She already ranks second on the Northwood All-time performers list.
  • Debra Wallace placed fifth in the 200 with a time of 25.61

UP NEXT

  • The track and field teams will resume action following the winter break at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open. The meet is set for January 10.
