Track & Field Competes At SVSU Tune Up

OVERVIEW – SVSU TUNE UP

LOCATION: University Center, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University

RECAP: Northwood Track & Field competes in final event prior to the GLIAC Championships, taking part in the SVSU Tune Up Meet Friday night (February 20).

INSIDE THE MEET – MEN

  • The Timberwolves placed three in the top five of the weight throw, led by Nathan Powers with an NCAA Provisional toss of 18.05 meters. His brother Dylan Powers was second at 17.20 meters, which places him eighth on the Northwood all-time performers list. Hunter Berecz was fifth at in the event 16.16 meters.
  • Berecz picked up a win in shot put with an NCAA Provisional toss of 16.65 meters. Travis Schepers was second in the event, adding an NCAA Provisional mark of his own at 16.52 meters. NU now has three athletes that have hit the provo mark in the shot (Zecharia Stickler).
  • Andrew Wendler shaved more than a second off his personal-best in the 800, placing sevond overall with a time of 1:56.80.

INSIDE THE MEET – WOMEN

  • Jessica Kursinsky and Jessica Marvin placed first and third, respectively, in the shot put. Kursinsky had a provisional mark with a toss of 13.79 meters, while Marvin moved to third in program history with a personal-best mark of 12.64 meters.

  • Northwood heads to the GLIAC Championships February 27-28, which will be hosted by Saginaw Valley.
